Radio personality and concert promoter, Sandy Shore, founded Smoothjazz.com in 1995. Originally, the on-line destination was used as a ticket outlet for Sandy Shore Productions' Monterey Bay concert events. However, by the late 1990's the Website had been transformed into a global presence with Co-Founder Donna K. Phillips for the Smooth Jazz community, offering exciting content for both artists and fans alike and making SmoothJazz.com the FIRST Woman owned + operated Internet Radio Station in the World.

By the turn of the century, SmoothJazz.com Global Radio began broadcasting in digital stereo through the services of Shoutcast.com. Sister station SmoothLounge.com Global Radio was brought online to bring the Chilled Electro Jazz vibe to the global audience.

Around the same time, the Smoothjazz.com Top 50 Chart publication debuted, designed to be the only Album Chart in the format, for music industry professionals and participated in by some 60 reporting radio stations. The Chart is published weekly, 50 times per year displaying the current most played Smooth Jazz albums in the United States and abroad. In addition, SmoothJazz.com publishes the Top 50 Indie Chart as well as the Top 50 Radar Chart which features our current roster of artist clients exclusively to help radio programmers get early notice of new music.
